Have you ever used your handcuffs?

I’m a private security officer by trade and have been for 2.5 years. In that amount of time I have arrested a grand total of 4 people. I work at a shopping mall so their isn’t a lot of action in my job. Mostly I take care of vehicle accidents, thefts (paperwork) and door shaking. Anybody out there care to relay a story of an arrest they made as a security/public safety officer?

I worked for a company that provided Security for Quinceneras, Wedding Receptions, etc., and there was plenty of times where we had fights break out. More at the Quinceneras with the younger population and the gang bangers showing up or have rivals arrive. The last big one we had was a all out brawl let loose about 5 mins before we would be shutting down and the whole night had been peaceful. For a change, nothing really had happened. Then, out of the blue, people started running by saying “Fight, fight on the dance floor.” I hit 911 speed dial on my cell, and handed it to one of the hostesses to get local PD to respond while we started pulling people apart. It was a complete melee.
One guy kept pulling his buddy away from me, who I saw actually pull an assault and was trying to take into custody (I wasn’t going hands on with just anyone in the crowd, only those I saw throwing blows.) I ended up letting him go when I noticed I lost track of my newer partner. I went outside to check on him and he was cuffing one guy, and I cuffed another that tried to interfere. We took them back to the front door where I asked the DJs to watch them when PD was showing up to assist. Somebody else refused to leave when I told him his buddy, one of the guys in custody, was not going anywhere and so he got hooked up.
I went over to one of the PD officers, and she already had one in her car. It so happened it was the guy that was interfering with me inside, and she advised she had to taze him. I told her I was sorry I missed it. We went back to the front when we were advised by one of the party goers that one of the orginal fight starter was inside trying to hide in a corner. I went back inside with the female PD officer and we located him, and I was out of cuffs, so she handed me hers since the guy was next to me. It really was quite a way to close the party down.
